Aka Seeking submissions to our shelves

The initial mission of Califa Media Publishing was to provide an outlet where learned Moors could distribute their works to learning Moors. While our mission has evolved since our establishment in 2014, we remain true to original goal, keeping it at the heart of all we do.

Checking in with ourselves five years later, we find need to publicly recognize the resonation of our efforts.

While seeing titles show up on the shelves of major retailers and in selfies makes our hearts swell, this recent acknowledgement caused us to clutch our pearls!

That’s right, it’s a citation in a title published by the University of Chicago Press! While outside recognition is not needed, it is most certainly appreciated. This is a prime example of confirmation that we are indeed on the right path. Our aim to change the people by changing their literature is spilling out of our community to serve as a fitting representation of our view, as presented by OUR people!

It’s a beautiful thing.

And we’re just getting started.

Unfortunately—or fortunately—we cannot do this alone. We are not kings, nor do we aspire to be. However, we DO enjoy the concept of being king-MAKERS. Califa Media Publishing is dedicated to getting the Moorish perspective into the mainstream in a way that cannot be other than respected. 

So that we may to continue our part in directing the Moorish American narrative while corroborating our positive image before the other nations, we need our people’s literary works. No one can tell our story better than we can---and no can ensure its cultural/ intellectual/ historical integrity the way Califa Media Publishing can.
